Turn your mobile into a News Hub, or a chatter box if you’d like to

December 29, 2009 · Article by Sriraj · 4 Comments

Ever been in a position where India is taking on Australia at Eden gardens but you’re in a lecture class of a same old boring prof?

Or in a position where you saw or came to know of a major breaking news and wanted to update that to your buddies through your social networking profile, but there isn’t a computer near by?

Now all that ysnaptuou dreamt of having in your mobile phone is available under one application, Snaptu. Sure, you can download individual applications of say CNN News and Facebook/ twitter, but that could be tiresome as you’ll need to deal with multi apps simultaneously.

In Snaptu, while you are reading a news story, you only need to click on the ‘send to’ button and you’ll be taken to your Facebook or Twitter page where you can post the news.

And talking about the India Australia match, you have the cricinfo widget which gives you live scores (ball by ball commentary too, if you are that crazy) of all the live matches.

Besides cricket and News channels, you can have any of your favourite blogs RSS feeds delivered right into your mobile using the RSS widget. There are dedicated widgets for movie reviews, weather up to 3 days (Yeah, it works for Indian cities too), sports stories, Flickr, Picasa photos and featured wall papers with amazing back stories behind them (My fav widget).

Just point your mobile browser to m.snaptu.com and download the application. The App is really small in size (approx 163kb) and installs in seconds.

The application should work with any phone that supports Java. When you visit m.snaptu.com, you’ll see about 4 links. Try to download the signed versions (jad format) first and if they didn’t work, then download the unsigned versions (either jar or jad). In any case, the jar format application should work in most Nokia mobiles (The S60 5th edition mobiles too, like Nokia 5800, N97, X6)

I completely agree with this review. Using Snaptu has been sensational. It’s so stylish and uber cool. As the Snaptu’s homepage says “Iphone for every phone”, It’s really worth it. Man! I works like a charm!

I’ve been using Snaptu since last IPL. Cricket Twitter and Facebook what more is there to life! Really excellent. Had it on a 5800, but now use on my new Blackberry.
