RSS readers: how do I subscribe to a website?

RSS readers are news aggregators which collect news or articles from various websites and present them in a single place. This means, instead of browsing through all your favorite websites, you can subscribe to all of them and read the latest articles from those websites in your reader. You can also subscribe by email by which you get all the latest articles right into your inbox. But a RSS reader is any time better option than email subscription for obvious reasons.

How to subscribe?

So from the next time you want to subscribe to any website just look for the RSS icon (image) or a link that says subscribe to this website (Subscribe to Sriraj.org in my case) and subscribe using any reader.

a.)    If you’re subscribing to a blog similar to this one, more often than not you’ll be taken to a feedburner Page which looks like this. On the right side of that page you can see various news aggregators like Google reader, My AOL, Page flakes, Bloglines etc. Google reader would be a good option according to me. Just click on the Google icon and you’ll be taken to Google reader’s page where you can login using any of your Gmail ID’s. So, from next time if there is an update in the blog you subscribed, you can see them by logging into your Google reader page (link).

b.)    If you are subscribing to a website, you may be taken to a customized feed page where you can subscribe using any existing news aggregator.

By using RSS reader you save time and also you reduce the pain of going to websites one-by-one in search of the content.
