BSNL 2Mbps Broadband for Rs.99/month

You heard it right. In an attempt to capture the rural Indian population, BSNL, the largest Broadband service provider in India has thrown out yet another scheme called Rural USO 99 where users in Rural areas would get 2Mbps high speed broadband connection for a mere Rs.99 per month. This of course isn’t unlimited. With this Rs.99 plan users would get 400MB of Data per month.

If you need a slightly higher usage plan, you can choose Rural USO 150 plan where you get 1GB of data per month, every thing else remaining the same.

These two plans, however, are not Combo plans. This means that the rent for the Landline connection will have to be made separately.

All BSNL Rural Broadband plans

For Combo plans, there is Rural USO Combo 250 plan where you get a speed of 512Kbps – 2Mbps and this comes with a Data limit of 1.5GB per month. For unlimited Combo plans, you can choose BB Home Rural USOF Combo UL 500 where the speed will be 512 Kbps up to 4GB 6GB and 256 Kbps hence forth. For Combo 250 and Combo 500 Unlimited you also get free calls of 100 and 150 from your BSNL Landline respectively.

For all the above plans, there are no extra charges for Modem, Security deposit or Installation.

Of course, when dealing with Rural India, customer support becomes the greatest challenge. If any user runs into trouble, it could take days for the support staff to turn up to your place.

In such cases, you can use something like a BSNL NIC card that doesn’t have any physical cables to access Internet.

Advise: If you are in a really remote village and BSNL has a landline service there, then without a doubt these Broadband plans are the best option for you. Especially the Combo 500 plan. You can forget private service providers as will not even care for just a handy users from any locality.

In case you do not have BSNL landline service, select the best mobile network and subscribe to its data plans. Of course, here too, the towers in villages generally are only capable of GPRS service (not even EGDE) so you will have to do with terribly lower speeds.
