Searching for something on the Internet isn’t that easy. With thousands of budding starting every day, you only have more websites to cover to find your information. Fortunately, there is something called as a Search Engine. But unfortunately, even search engines are increasing their numbers over days. So it all depends on which search engine you choose to make your search effective.

So here are some quick steps that’ll help you get the information you were looking for in minimal of clicks..
Google is not the only Search Engine
How many times did you hear people saying ‘Just Google for it’? I certainly heard many times. But remember there are other search engines too. If Google cannot turn up the website that you’re looking for in its first page, then you can surely move to Yahoo, Bing or Ask, which are the next best search engines.
Do you know advanced search terms?
Sometimes a simple word like ‘Christmas gift’ may turn up millions of websites. So it is always useful to block the useless sites by using advanced search term. This advanced search may be like search for a keyword (search term) in a website’s URL or in the title of the article, searching only a particular site, using operators like AND and OR etc.
Visit this page learn more about Yahoo’s Advanced options.
What are you searching for?
Before you start to search anything, you should be able to choose the search engine that best suits your search.
For example, if you are searching for a quote of a company, employees in a company or anything that relates to numbers and mathematics, you should first try WolframAlpha which is called as a Computational knowledge engine
If you are searching for someone (a person), then there are plenty of people finder’s like PeekYou, Spock. You may also try social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace. Although these services may be customized in searching people, Google has seriously developed in this area ever since it introduced Google Profiles. So you should also try searching on Profiles pages.
Searching for a Phrase?
If you want to read more about a particular phrase like ‘An apple a day keeps Windows away’ (Nice phrase, I like it) then there might be very little use if you type the search term as is. Because the search engines return all those webpages that has the terms apple, day, keep, windows, away. So if searching for a Phrase then it should always be included inside a double quote like “An apple a day keeps windows away”.
Definition or meaning of a word?
If you would like to know the meaning of any word of definition of it, you can use the search operator define:word. For example define:incognito etc. You can use this operator on Google, Bing and Ask.

Bing is giving me some very good results of late. Google includes a lot of blogs and some of them are pretty useless which Bing doesn’t and its the same with Yahoo. But still Google is the number 1. I can’t understand the reason why?
I have such type of problems, but you have solved my problem. Thanks
