There are Airtel and Tata Indicom hotspots already; and there is Aircel Wifi from now. Public hotspot, a very common feature in the western world is slowly getting established in India too. Aircel Wifi is inaugurated in five major cities, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore where Aircel subscribers can access internet using their wifi enabled smart devices. Almost all major public destinations, like Commercial places, restaurants’, Coffee bars, Malls seem to be covered.
If you happen to be in one of those places in these 5 cities with an Aircel mobile (or a Data card for your lappy), look out for an ‘AIRCEL_SPECTRANET’ SSID. Till 20 February, Aircel is offering completely free browsing in these hotspots for all Aircel subscribers. If you are a frequent flyer, the hotspot connecting process should be a routine.
For others’, here is the process. When you connect to the Aircel wifi network, you’ll be redirected to a webpage where you’ll fill your details including your Aircel number. You’ll then instantly get your user ID and password as SMS. By entering them in the web page, you’ll join the Aircel Wifi network and will be able to browse the Internet.
As said before, there are no charges till 20 February after which Rs.15 will be charged for an hour of browsing (with a limit of 30MB). If you are a prepaid subscriber, this will be debited from your account and if you are a post paid user, this will reflect in your monthly bill.
