You don’t need to have a Smartphone, not even a USB drive, to carry your important files with you, where ever you go. A simple piece of software installed on your computer can do it for you. Say Hello to Dropbox.
When you download and install this software on your PC, it will create a folder named ‘Dropbox’ on your PC. From then, all you need to do is just drop (put) your files (including pictures, videos, pdf and all MS Office files) in to that folder and the software automatically syncs them to your dropbox online account so that you can access those files from your office or from any where you have an Internet connection.
If you have a Smart phone, you can install the Dropbox app for your phone and access the same files from your phone too. If you don’t have one, you can just log in to dropbox.com to access your files.
The free version gives users 2GB of free space, good enough to hold hundreds of documents and photos.
Not just making your files available anywhere for yourself, you can also share those files (such as photos with your family) using the sharing features. You can either use the ‘Photos’ folder or the ‘Public’ folder (available once you download the software) to put your files and share them. Remember that all files you put in your Dropbox are private and can only be viewed if you give them the sharing link.
Note: Both the links are my personal referral links. If you use it, I will get 500MB of space. If you rather not want to give me more space, you can simply head over to dropbox.com and register yourself without any referral.
