After the Nano, the world’s cheapest car, Tata has now introduced the worlds cheapest water purifier in ‘TATA SWACH’. Swach is a Hindi word which means ‘Pure’. Tata Chemicals, which introduced this product today, said that it took the help of fellow Tata groups in the products’ research studies. Tata Swach’s main aim will be to get into the rural Indian market where pure water is still far from reality.
Swatch uses the simple technique of using Ash from rice milling to remove any existent bacteria or any visible particulates. Swach has two variants, one is priced at Rs.799 and the other at Rs.999. since both of these are under Rs.1000, Tata Chemicals is hoping that it’ll do well in the rural market.
Swach filter can take in 19 litres of water at a time and doesn’t need running water or electricity to do its function, much like the Hindustan Unilevers Pure IT.
But Pure IT, which was the cheapest water purifier in India till now was priced around Rs.3000. So it is expected that the water purifier market will once again open up for real competition with the advent of the big name Tata.
It has to be remembered that it was a Tata Group company, Tata Docomo, that introduced the revolutionary 1 paisa per second call rate that changed the face of entire Indian telecom Industry.
Any latest entrant now, Uninor for example, is forced to have a pay per second plan.

Don’t tell me such nonsense. I am using TATA Swach it is worst than normal cloth filter , firstly if we pored some more water in to upper jar then a stream of water get started at bottom jar you filter can not sustained more water. Secondly sludge like get settled in to bottom jar , we saw that and entire water thrown , but didn’t work sludge get settled again. Now I am thinking throw you water purifier in to kabadi, and get another.SHAME on you to provide such a bad customer service ,, toll free no didn’t work and no body willing to visit and solve problems.

The entire product data and literature is misleading from Tata. The capacity is only 9 Liters(I repeat) whereas the claim is for 18 liters…that in my view is fraud on the customer. I bought believing it as 18 liters and then it started leaking beyond 9 liters. When I call up the tollfree I get a response saying the you can only store 9 liters max at any point of the time. SO BEWARE!!!

TATA has annouced about SWACH 2 months back till date the are unable to launch the device in the trade.There is also a news that ,there are some problem with the device & thats why TATA has to postpon the launch.

tata swach come out with a very noble cause in mind that to reach every home and able to give them pure water, so there is no question of competion whatever other companies are doing, tata happy with that other side it wants to go hands to hands so in a whole they could serve more people.
As far as news that product has problem it seems completly a rumor, one should visit to maharashtra where this product is available and selling like a hot cake.

Not quite. The price has been raised following the introduction of Auto switch of battery(that would stop the water flow as soon the battery completely turns red). Earlier versions didn’t have auto switch off facility and those were sold at Rs.2000.
A small correction in the above article is that the basic variant is priced at Rs.749 and not Rs.799.
