Saw that Airtel money ad where the guy recharges his friend’s mobile from his mobile? Now you can do that too, even if you don’t have an airtel mobile. Simple download and install the Ngpay mobile app for your phone (search for it in the respective App Stores) and recharge any phone on the go.
Ngpay app is not new. We covered it before at various instances before but back then the mobile recharge didn’t exist (to be precise, the recharge feature did exist before but for some reason it was removed from the service list). Now, it makes a come back.
Using the app, users of Airtel, Aircel, Vodafone, BSNL, Idea Cellular, Loop mobile, MTNL, MTS, Reliance Communications, Tata Docomo, Uninor and Videocon Telecom can recharge their or their family/friends’ mobile.
Wide variety of payment options exist, starting from Visa/Master Card/Diners Club/American Express Credit cards, Visa/Master Card/Maestro Debit cards, Done/Itz Cash cards to Bank accounts of Axis/HDFC/SBI bank.
For Credit cards, you simple input the card details. For Debit Cards, apart from the card details, you’d also need a OTP. For Cash Cards, you are required to enter your account number and password. For Bank accounts, you need to enter your Bank account number and PIN’s (this requires prior mobile banking registration).
As always, mistakes can happen and if your card/account charged but your mobile is not recharged, you will get your refund in 7 to 10 days time.
Update:Ngpay is actually a great idea. It has everything and it started early. But the only problem; people do no buy using their phones, yet. Recharging their phones may be slightly different but you still have to go to external sites (which are not mobile optimized) to complete your transaction. I’ll be honest; I’m not comfortable with that using a small 4 or 5 inch phone. As I see other people’s comments about the app in Play Store, it is very evident that they use the app for mobile recharge. If that’s that’s your sole purpose, why not look at something like Paytm, which is a far more beautiful app than Ngpay.
