Forget reducing data limits, telecom companies these days are even increasing voice call tariff’s too. In these times, it will certainly not hurt if you get something for free, especially to add to your new phone purchase. So, in case you have purchased a New Nokia Lumia or other Nokia phones, here are the data offers that you get at present:
Nokia Lumia 920: Airtel is currently offering 2GB of 3G data per month for 3 months
Nokia Lumia 820: Vodafone is offering the same data, 2GB of 3G data per month for 3 months
Nokia Lumia 800, Lumia 610, Lumia 510 and 808 Pureview: Airtel offers 500MB of 3G data for 1 month
Nokia Lumia 710: Airtel offers 4GB of 3G data for 4 months (note: it’s NOT 4GB per month; so if you use 4GB data in 1 month, then that’s it, no more free data)
If you do not have 3G network in your area, then you will get the same data at 2G speeds only.
These offers are applicable for new airtel/vodafone activations as well as to existing customers on their purchase of new Nokia phones (Note: Offer is only redeemable once, so if you have bought a Lumia second hand when the first owner has already used the data offer, you will not get any further free data).
The data offer activates itself automatically when you insert your sim card for the first time. Similar offers existed before too and from time to time, I get emails asking why they didn’t receive the free data. In case you too did not receive free data, as offered/promised, it ‘could be’ because the offer has expired. For example, the data offer on Lumia 710 expires on 31 January 2013, while the respective offers for 610 and 510 will expire on 28 February and 31 March 2013. These dates may get extended though, at the discretion of Airtel, Vodafone and Nokia.
If you bought the phone within the data offer expiry date but still didn’t get the offer, just call your operators customer care and they’ll look into it.
