Few days ago, I brought up the topic of Windows 7 describing its striking features and here is Microsoft today releasing its first Release Candidate (RC) version of Windows 7.
Since it’s only a release candidate and not the final ready to use version of Windows you will find some bugs that will be automatically reported to Microsoft.
Few facts before you proceed
The first RC is said to be available atleast through July 2009 and the license expires on June 1, 2010.
From June 1, 2010 your computer will be shut down once in every 2 hours reminding you to install an un-expiring version of windows.
If you’re currently running on Windows XP, you will need to backup your data before installing Windows 7 and if you’re running on Vista, you are not required to do so (it is recommended for safety purposes though).
Here are details on how to back up a PC running on Windows XP.
You can download the RC and follow the installation instructions.
Here are the installation instructions
If you are not sure what I’m talking about, then better you forget about this as the final version of Windows 7 is expected to be released soon.
