The name itself sounds as something fishy right?

It means nothing but calling a person from someone else’s number which is not virtual. There are 4 main stages or parts to make a Spoofing call.

First, a person who wants to make a Spoofing call (Source)

Second, an Unknown, but existent number of someone else’s number (Caller ID number)

Third, A service that could make this possible and

Finally, the receiver who the Spoofed call is targeted for (Destination number)

Try making a search on Google for Call Spoofing and you’ll find enough businesses of services that offer you this service.

Who can use this service and for what purposes?

The answer can be two types, either you use for fun or you use it to cause serious damage to the targeted person.

How does this work?

First a person either for fun or with some serious intentions registers with a company that provides this service. Most of the companies require three basic things during registration.

The Source number

The destination number and

Caller ID number.

Lets say Source is Mr.A who wants to target Mr.B who has his Destination number. The company provides a Fake Caller ID number (or the one which Mr.A wants to use) and makes a connection between Mr.A and B. Now Mr.B sees some number on his phone which is not Mr.A’s but someone else’s. If you understand this closely, you could make that Mr.A can actually target 2 persons with just one call.

This technology is not something new but has been in use since many days but off late the number of such calls are seeing a rise in their number.
