We have already talked about Axis bank mobile banking app before, that was via ‘Ngpay’, a third party service provider. Now, Axis Bank has released a dedicated mobile banking app itself for all major OS’s; Android, iPhone, Nokia (Java) and Blackberry. Customers of the bank can download the app from the respective app stores by searching for ‘Axis Mobile’.
Activation and using the app
One has to say that this process is a little cumbersome. The first thing one needs to do is enter their mobile number and exit the app. You’ll then receive a One Time Activation Code (OTAC).
Open the app again and enter your desired mPin (this is a 6 digit password that you need to enter every time you open the app, so write it down some where carefully) and also enter the OTAC number which you may have received via SMS.
Then navigate to ‘Add Account’ which is under ‘Manage account’ section. Enter your Axis bank account number and input a Nickname to the account (this is useful if you have multiple accounts to manage; if you just have a single account, you can just write your name or something else like ‘savings account’).
In the next step, to activate this account, you need to correctly enter the debit card number associated with that account, the 4 digit ATM PIN and the expiry date of the Debit card (month and year respectively).
Note: This process will only be successful if the mobile number to which you have received the OTAC is the same number which is linked with your account number AND registered for SMS banking. If not, you have to first visit the branch or any Axis bank ATM to register your mobile number for SMS banking.
If everything has gone well, this should complete the registration and activation process. Your ‘Axis Mobile’ is now ready to use.
As always, you can know your Balance, get a Mini-statement, make funds transfer (up to Rs.15000 per day including any Bill payments), Request a Cheque book, Pay bills (only for registered billers) and also recharge your Prepaid Mobile.
While the features are certainly good, it might be useful if the daily transaction limit is raised to Rs.50000 and also making the app do individual things faster.
