Airtel launches portal for prepaid mobile (online) management

We wished for this earlier, and it finally happened now. Airtel has launched a dedicated portal for prepaid users to manage their mobile services. Until now, only Postpaid, Broadband and Digital TV customers enjoyed the benefits.

You can do almost everything that you can think of concerned with your prepaid mobile number.

You can do a balance enquiry; you can raise a service request or manage (activate/de-activate/change) various services that you currently have with your number or activate a new service that you’re interest in, such as 3G or VAS (Hello tunes, Astrology etc).

The portal also shows few things about your mobile handset such as the IMEI number, PUK number (handful if your mobile gets locked and requires PUK code to unlock) and whether the mobile has GPRS, MMS and 3G support.

Since it’s a prepaid portal, it is essential that it has a provision to ‘recharge’ your mobile. And here, there is more than just a way to recharge your mobile. You can view various tariff’s, special offers (especially for you) and also view your recharge history.

The portal to visit is the regular www.airtel.in. Towards the right, you can find ‘My account’ and then select ‘prepaid’. Enter your 10 digit prepaid number and the verification code. You will then get an access code to your mobile which you’ll have to enter in the box to actually enter the portal.

Currently, there doesn’t seem to be a way to use a password for your prepaid account which means that you’re required to go through this verification process each time you want to login.
