BSNL invites applications from eligible Indian for the posts of Junior Telecom Officers (JTO).
The total number of vacancies is 3945.
The split in vacancies is as follows
JTO(Telecom) – 3545 vacancies
JTO( Civil) — 200 vacancies
JTO( Electrical) -200 vacancies
Scale of pay:
The IDA pay-scale of Rs. 9850-250-14600 will be applicable to JTO’s.
Eligibility:
For JTO (Telecom) vacancies candidates having a Bachelors degree in Engineering/Technology in any of the following streams are eligible
Telecommunications
Electrical or electronics
Radio engg and
Computer engineering
Information Technology.
Candidates must possess the bachelors degree on or before 31/12/2009.
For JTO( Civil) vacancies candidates must possess BE/BTECH or its equivalent in Civil engineering by 31/12/2009.
For JTO( Electrical) vacancies candidates must possess BE/BTECH or its equivalent degree in Electrical engineering from a recognized university.
Age requirements:
Candidates should not be above 30 years of age on the closing date of the receipt of applications.
Age relaxations for different categories are applicable as usual according to Government rules.
Selection procedure:
Selection will be made through an All India competitive examination.
The written test will be objective type and will be for three hours.
The test contains 3 sections in which 2 sections contain questions based on engineering stream and the other section contains General knowledge questions. The two engineering based sections contain 50 questions each and GK section contains 20 questions.
Applications must be neatly typed strictly in the given format in an A4 paper (only single side) and sent by registered post to the CGM concerned along with a DD of Rs.750.
The DD must be drawn in favour of Senior Accounts Officer/Accounts Officer payable in your circle (State)
Complete Fee exemption is provided to SC, ST and PH candidates.
The application envelop must be superscribed “Application for J.T.Os(Telecom) Examination-2008″ or ”Application for J.T.Os (Civil) Examination-2008″ or ”Application for J.T.Os(Electrical) Examination-2008″, as the case may be, in bold letters.
- Three Identical passport size photographs in which one must be attached to the application form duly attested and the other two must be enclosed in the post ( do not pin or stick)
- Two self addressed unstamped envelopes of 27 x 12 cms size must be enclosed.
- Physical certificate in case of PH candidate must be enclosed.
Last date of receipt of application is 06/04/2009.
The tentative date of examination is on 21/06/2009.

hi guys, this is important…prepare well for JTO-JTO-JTO…I have taken GATE coaching in an institute. The faculty in that institute said that JTO notification will be released again this year(2010). They are highly experienced faculty having keen observation on job alerts. So dont take it easy, start your preparation. I think BSNL is waiting for the completition of JAO exam. After that exam it may release.

There is no specific Syllabus mentioned even by BSNL, but what I can say is that the questions will only from your Engineering text books.
Schedule for the next JTO cannot be guessed as it depends on their requirements. JTO exam for 2009 has just been concluded so you can expect the next notification in 2010 or later part of this year.
And yes, you are eligible.

I’m a B.E(CS) graduate- 2004 passout aged 26.So I meet the criteria to enter exam. I am currently working for IBM as software Tester. I want to take up BSNL JTO 20092010. The syllabus that I see in the (sample papers/given in the advertisement) is completely Core Electronics’s syllabus, nothing is similar to Computer Sc. syllabus. So my query is whether We computer sc., candidates wil hav our own stream of paper or wil it be full n full electronics paper???IF its seperate comp sc. paper then plz tell me which book I shud refer for preparing BSNL JTO exam? and any sample papers or prev papers?? This years BSNL JTO exam is over and applicants are awaiting results.
If you are just asking for future JTO’s exams when announced, NO, there will not be a separate paper for CS students. I heard and seen many CS and IT students coming out successful in this exam.
So you can understand it’s all basic electronics and nothing deep. Even if you are from CS background you should have learnt some basic E&C subjects in your engg syllabus, haven’t you?

Hello Sir , I applied for the exam for JTo’s 2008 (Telecom), on this 21st June . I am from SC category, My hallticket no. is JTO/300/18548….But in last 10 minutes the superviser collected my hallticket saying , it will be required as u are goin to have TA as per rule. And I submitted it to him..But when I asked my friends , they said we havn’t given our hall ticket . How would you submitted to him? All I can say is wait till its 2 weeks before the date of written exam. If you don’t have your call letter till then, you can contact the BSNL office address to which you’ve sent your application for the issue of duplicate call letter.

What do you mean by computer science graduate? Is it in Engineering or B.Sc computers?
If it is Engineering CSE, then you can well apply to this. Last date is nearing very soon.Keep and eye on that.

But you can surely apply with another DD as your first application will not be considered at all. So problem of 2 call letters.

It was given BE/BTECH or its equivalent in the notification. So if you have its equivalent degree in bachelors you may be eligible.
