The current communist Government in Kerala has until 23 May 2011 to enjoy the supreme powers when the term expiration arrives. Before that arrives, as usual, there will be General Elections. The notification will be issued officially on 19 March 2011. Polling takes place on 13 March and the votes will be counted on 13 May 2011, along with other states that are going the election way next month.
Out of 140 Assembly Constituencies in Kerala, 14 are reserved for SC’s and 2 for ST’s. A total of 2,29,40,408 voters have been found eligible to cast their vote. EC has announced that each one of these eligible voters has been issued an Electoral Photo Identity cards (EPIC) and hence, it is mandatory to bring the same to the polling station to cast your vote. A total of 20758 polling stations are being made ready for voters to cast their vote.

Note that 1 January 2011 has been decided as the cut-off date to prepare the final electoral roll. Voters who received submitted application forms after that date will not feature in that list.
