Lost you PAN Card some where? Do not worry. Getting hold of a replacement PAN card (or a duplicate PAN card) is as easy as applying for a new PAN. And what’s more, you can do it with a few clicks on your computer.

Just visit this page and proceed to the bottom of it to select the appropriate category.
Before you do that it is advisable to carefully read the Instructions. For your convenience, I’ll mention here the two most important points to note while applying for a replacement card.
- If all the data in your lost PAN card is correct and you are simply applying for a replacement card, fill the complete form without selecting (ticking) any box that are present on the extreme left, except for item number 7, which remains selected by default.
- If you are instead applying just to make any corrections to your existing PAN card, fill out all the mandatory fields (those marked with a star) and select only those boxes that are present on the extreme left that corresponds to the filed in which you wish to make the corrections.
After completing all the fields and making the payment online, you will be allotted a unique 15 digit number using which you can track your PAN card status after 3 days from the date of application.
If you prefer the paper mode, you will have to download the correction form (change form) from http://www.incometaxindia.gov.in/Archive/ChangeForm.pdf or by visiting a physical Office of UTI or NSDL TIN in your area.

Please read the above post. It explains the procedure. While filling the online form, you need to tick that box (in respective field) where you need to change something. You must fill all the rest of fields but do not tick the boxes before them.

I have misplaced my pan card,and i have now applied for a duplicate pancard from an agent on 29th of december 2012, but till today i have not received it. My old pancard number is [checked]. How to trace it.
How to trace your misplaced pan card? That’s tough since you don’t know where you lost either.
The agent: Call him if you have his number.
If you don’t hear from him at all, applying for a replacement card yourself isn’t hard either. Just follow the process described above.
Before you apply for one yourself, just check if the agent has submitted the application in the first place. Go here and enter your name and DOB. If you can find any information, it means your agent has submitted the application or else, forget about it and apply for one yourself.
Thanks a lot for this useful link. I had lost my PAN card, for which I fortunately remembered the PAN number, while taking a Photocopy to be given to some Loan or a Credit Card agent, along with their application form, as Photo-ID. I never got it back.
Today 20th December 2012 (20-12-2012), I’ve submitted online application from the link provided by you to NSDL. Now, I just need to take the print-outs of the Confirmation Form, and the scanned copies of my old PAN card, and Passport. I’ll need to mail/courier it to their PUNE address within next 15 days. That’s it. I’m done and sorted. They will then ship my new card with the same old PAN number to my permanent residence address. The overall process ain’t that complicated. CHEERS !!

You need to know your PAN. Please try to find it somewhere, it should be in your bank records, or with your employer, in your Income tax records, your stock broker and so on..
Hi, my pan card is lost buy a new pan card so what can i do it.
I got PAN card issued on 22/06/2012. But I realized a month back that I filed incorrect form, I filed Form49A when I should have filed Form 49AA, since I’m not an Indian citizen and needless to say my residence is outside India too. Also, I don’t have physical PAN card with me. It’s apparently lying in Mumbai somewhere, not sure where though.
I would appreciate if you anyone could guide as to what should be done now to correct this?

I don’t know why, but yes, you are required to submit the documents again. Since you lost your card, there may be a chance that you don’t have a copy of your PAN card (xerox); that is not a problem as long as you remember and mention the PAN (number) in the online form.
If you have any doubt, you can always call TIN or email them at tininfo[at]nsdl.co.in. They are very quick to reply to your queries in working days.

If there is someone at your Delhi residence to pick up your PAN card, then you can simply give that address.
If your PAN card is lost and you’re applying for a new one, you don’t need to provide any more address proof’s.

In case of a communication address – point no. 7 does it have to be my fixed residential address which was submitted at the time of applying for a pan no.
If that fixed address and the address which you are staying now are same, then yes.
