If you’re a frequent tatkal ticket buyer, here’s some information that you should know. Very soon (with in a week of so), tatkal tickets will only be issued 1 day prior to the day of journey, unlike now, where you can book tickets 2 days ahead of the scheduled date. And, like now, where there will be no refund if you cancel your ticket with in 24 hours of scheduled departure, you will get no refund at all since you’re only allowed to book 1 day ahead.
This move has been brought to disallow misusing of the system by few agents. Hence, mentioning of your ID card is mandatory at the stage of booking itself.
Agents will only be allowed to book tatkal tickets from 10 am (normal passengers can book as usual from 8 am), unlike now where they can book tickets starting from 9am and make festival selling them for what ever price the situation demands.
Also, a maximum of 4 members will be only be allowed per PNR number. At present, you can book tickets for up to 6 persons at one go. Hence, if you want to book tickets for more than 4 people (say 6), you will have to do it in two separate transactions and hope that tickets won’t run out after your first transaction.
