Wrapping up Tata Photon series

by Sai on February 10, 2010

This is a post wrapping up the Tata Photon series of articles.

Go to Tata Photon Plus tariff to know its tariff plans and service review.

The download speed that is promised (or advertised) is 3.1mbps, but that depends on many factors such as number of concurrent users using the service, time of the day and the type of web page being accessed.

The 3.1mbps works only in those areas (63 cities in India) where there is HSIA coverage. In areas where there isn’t HSIA coverage, the service automatically shifts to 1x speed. This 1x should be available in all those areas where Tata has its network coverage.

Tata Photon plus also has prepaid option where you can recharge with vouchers for an amount that you think will be sufficient for a month. The starting amount is Rs.200/month for which you get 250MB of data.

Tata Photon can be used any where in India with out any extra roaming charges. For example, if you purchased your device in Bangalore, you can still use the same in Delhi with no extra charges.

Recently Tata has also launched Tata Photon Pro, which is a wired broadband service (like BSNL and Airtel) with great tariff plans. As an introductory offer, all the initial payments like registration charges, security deposits and fixed line registration charges are waived.
