In this post, I’m going to explain how to install and activate your Sygic Mobile Maps (or Aura) application. Since I’m in India, my maps are provided by MapmyIndia. Similarly, for users in other countries, Maps may be provided by other partners’ like TeleNav etc (the Map provider is out of context here anyway).
Depending on how you ordered your product (that is, via a DVD or make an e-download), you should install the Sygic PC assistant and connect your mobile in Mass Storage mode. Then select the SD card in the PC Assistant and proceed to Sync Maps and Voices (if you get an error something like ‘There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk\’, just make sure to mount your SD card).
Once everything is Synced, you can disconnect your mobile and proceed with the activation on your Mobile. On your phone, go the folder where the Maps data is Synced. There you’ll find, SetupWinMobile.exe, SetupSymbian.sis, SetupAndroid along with other Maps files. Depending on your Phone’s OS, select any one and Install the App. Open the Mobile Maps application and proceed with the on screen instructions. Once you reach the activation page, you’ll be given two options to activate ‘Automatic over Internet’ and ‘Manual by entering Activation code’.
Try the Automatic mode first. For some reason, it didn’t work for me. If it’s the same case with you, choose Manual mode. Have your 16 digit product code and Device ID ready (you should have been shown the Device ID screen before reaching the activation page. If not, you can just proceed with your Mobile Maps App without activation and find your device ID in Settings -> About Mobile Maps). Head over to www.sygic.com/activate. Input the required details and you will be presented with your activation code.
Use this code to activate your Mobile maps via the Manual method (by entering the digits).
