Screen shot App for Android

If you have an Android device and are looking for an App that can take screen shots of your phone’s screen, then there’s nothing better than ShootMe (search in the Android Market).

The Description says it only works on ‘Rooted’ devices but I personally tested it and it works on Unrooted Samsung Galaxy S too. Looking at the comments in the Android Market, it looks like it works with all major versions of Galaxy series phones in the US (Captivate, Moment, Epic 4G, Vibrant), HTC EVO 4G, HTC Aria, MyTouch 3G, Motorola Cliq etc, but doesn’t work with Unrooted Desire, Droid series phones. Remember that this works with all ‘Rooted’ devices, at least according to the developer.

The way it works is extremely simple and user friendly. Install the App, open the App, Hide it, go to the screen which you want to capture and shake your phone, Yep, just shake to capture.

There are no settings to configure, whether you like it or not, and the image gets saves in My Files->ShootMe folder as a PNG file.

Update: I’m just tipped that Screen capture is built in to Froyo, although I wasn’t able to reproduce it on a Galaxy S device. The way you do is, Go to the screen which you want to capture, press the back key and while it is pressed, touch the Menu key to capture a screen shot.
