We’ll see two things in this article, first, when to expect the ATM card if you’ve applied for an account recently and second, what to do if your SBI ATM card is lost.
If you have applied for a new Saving’s or current account in SBI, you can expect your ATM sum Debit card to be delivered to your address (assuming you have opted for it) with in 15 days, usually. Due to postal delays, it may take up to 1 month at max. Please note that you’ll only get your ATM card by post but not the ATM Card PIN. To get the PIN, you’ll have to visit your SBI Branch with in 60 days of receiving your card of receiving the ATM card. This PIN too will be sent by post and will not be handed over to you in the bank. If you plan to use this card for online shopping, you will need a 3D secure code apart from your 4 digit PIN.
In case you lost your SBI ATM card, you have to report to the serving branch so that they can block that ATM card. If you can’t reach out to the Branch, you can call the toll free number 1800 112211 and ask the executive to block the ATM card. Note that although your card is lost, no one can withdraw money from it either from any ATM center or use it to buy some stuff, either Online or Offline unless they know the 4 digit ATM card PIN.
After you’ve blocked your lost card, you can apply for a new one. A nominal charge (Rs.204, subject to revision in the future) will be levied and the new card and new PIN will again be sent to your address.
You can also apply for a new card if you think your old ATM card is worn out. In this case, you have to hand over the old card and get a new one. Even in this case, a whole new card with a different card number will be provided to you.
