It’s no surprise that worlds’ two most populous nations are the two most popular countries when it comes to number of foreign students in the United States. For the year 2010-11, according to Institute of International Educations’ findings, Chinese students counted to 1.58 lakhs while Indian students stood at 1.04 lakhs, followed by South Korea. These three nations count for a total of 46% of foreign admissions in the United States of America.
Overall, foreign admissions have increased 5% compared to previous year but students flow from India has reduced, by 1% compared to 2009-10.
One interesting finding is that women account for 45% of the total international admissions.
You know how much these students contribute to America’s economy? A whopping 21 Billion Dollars every year. American Government official obviously takes pride in this stat and tells us that it is the top notch education and research that are attracting students from across the Globe.
