Mass storage mode in Android phones

When any Mobile phone (or any other digital device) is connected to a Computer in Mass Storage mode, we are hoping to see a  ‘Removable drive’ so that you can go crazy loading your files or managing them easily from your PC. But it looks like in Android devices (at least in my Samsung Galaxy S), you won’t get that Removable drive option shown in your PC.

Here is the fix. Well, this isn’t a fix but just knowing about a thing which you aren’t aware of and that which probably could make you feel embarrassed after words.

Connect your Android device to your PC via USB in ‘Mass storage’ mode as usual. You’ll see ‘USB Connected’ mentioned in the top notification bar. Pull that down and tap on ‘USB Connected’ and then select ‘Mount’ and wait for a second or two. There you go, your phone has appeared as a Removable disk for you to go crazy dumping your files.

Embarrassed?

When you are done with your work pull the notification bar again and select ‘Turn Off’ or just follow the normal procedure of ‘Safely removing the hardware/ Eject Media’ in your Computer.
