Karbonn mobiles, which used to be a relatively unknown entity has now become a huge player in India mobile handsets industry. What could be the reason for their instant success? Well, you don’t need to think twice, it was because of the introduction of Dual sim mobile phones. That introduction was perfectly synchronized with a serious price war among telecom operators, which led to consumers use multi sim cards for cheap calls. It’s not only Karbonn mobiles, many companies followed its steps and saw instant success.
Users have no option other than to buy those since top notch companies are somehow staying away from this hot niche market. The dominance of these companies may not last long as Country’s favourite brand and World’s largest mobile manufacturer Nokia has finally announced that it will enter the Dual Sim market soon.
The main difference between Nokia and these companies that saw ‘Instant success’ is the Quality and Operating System that is being use. Nokia uses the world renowned Symbian OS (which recently has become Open source too) which developers can use to make hundreds of Apps. You’ll find thousands of applications with the extension .sis (or .sisx) on the Internet to instantly download and install. But it’s not the case with other companies (read Karbonn mobiles and the likes). Sure, you can install Java Apps (if at all possible) but the Quality difference of a OS specific App and a Java App is huge. Forget about themes and games, you are only left with what you have by default, apart from the ability to change few wall papers, sigh.
The Bottom line of this article is that, Unless companies like Karbonn mobiles comes out with a specific OS for their mobiles, its extremely difficult to run their success any longer, especially after considering that Nokia Dual Sim mobiles are not that long away.
