Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) invites applications from aspiring and eligible students for admissions into the academic session of 2009-10.
There are 3 B.Tech programmes in offer by IIST namely Avionics, Aerospace and Physical sciences engineering.
All degrees are 4 year courses with 65 seats in Avionics, 52 in Aerospace and 39 in Physical sciences engineering streams.
Eligibility
Students qualified in the merit list OR Extended merit list in the IIT JEE 2009 exam are eligible to apply for the above programmes.
Important dates
Only online applications should be sent.
Opening date for online registration is 4th June 2009.
Closing date for online registration is 26th June 2009.
Publication of Merit list is on 29th June 2009.
After going through all applications, a merit list will be generated that will be published on the date mentioned above for counseling in Thiruvananthapuram on 20th and 21st July 2009.
Note: Students who already opted for programmes in institutions like IIT’s and other Institutions accepting JEE score will not be included in the merit list.

it is necessary to take iit coaching . bec iist exam is a tough exam iit coaching is necessary

You still have a lot of time Abhineet. First finish your class 12 and then crack the JEE. ISRO also has it’s own entrance but you need to have completed at least class 12 to appear for the entrance. Hence, concentrate on your class 11 and 12, be thorough in principles of Physics (and Maths) is all what I can advise you at this moment.

At present I am studying in std XII – from NIOS – National Institute of open school. I am also preparing for IIT entrance exams. I am aware that IISt gives admission on IIT merit list but I want to confirm whether the institute recognises passing of Higher secondary from NIOS. Kindly give this information.

IIST is prestigious. However, you are unsure whether you’ll be admitted into it or not. NIT’s are good, but not at th level of IIST. But, since you can’t take a chance with your life, I recommend you to approach NIT, Calicut and continue with its admission process.
P.S. If you have any alternative other than NIT which, then you may wait and watch and attend the IIST Interview.

IIST is an extremely competitive Institute to get admitted. But since you are in the EML of JEE you are eligible to apply for its programs. As far as I understand your chances are very trim unless the toppers and the fellows in front of you in EML do not want to get into IIST (Which is very unlikely)

hi,…….yaar reema this is not the end of the life……u should better try 4 bits pilani, iist, nift n aieee…….n ur state technical universities…..u must try vit also…..or if cn invest much then u should go for UPES,dehradun..its the only petrolium university in asia.
