If you are a BSNL Landline customer who is constantly paying the monthly bill with fine due to missing of the pay by date, you definitely need something called as ‘SMS and email alerts’, for free of course. As a courtesy towards its customers, BSNL has introduced Flash service, by sending their customer free SMS and email alerts when ever their bill is due for payment.
To register for this service, you should first register for an account on the BSNL portal. The detailed procedure on how to use BSNL portal explained there. While registering your profile, just be sure to give a working email address and a mobile number and opt in to receive SMS alerts.
If you didn’t to that while registering, you will find a link on the left hand side to ‘Modify Personal Info’, click on that link and enter your email and mobile number and check the box where it says, receive SMS alerts.
That’s it, from now on you’ll receive SMS alerts and an email alert when ever you are due.
Registering by an SMS
For those of you who are not able to register on the BSNL portal, can do so via an SMS too. But this is limited to only a certain BSNL circles at present viz, Bhubaneswar, Bhopal, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Hassan, Kodagu, Jammu, Kamrup, Kalyan, Lucknow, Meerut, Jaipur, Tuticorin, Tirunavelli and Vellore.
To register your mobile number and email address send as SMS as
Type reg<space>BSNL Landline number with STD code<space>BSNL account number<space>email address and send it to 09404001111.
For example, type reg 040230623xx 23060023xx xys@gmail.com and send it to the above number.
You can find your landline account number in any monthly BSNL bill. Generally, it will have an additional 2 zero’s in between.
