What we said earlier as talks in the air, is official now. Airtel is limiting its monthly 2GB Data pack to just 1GB, for the same price of Rs.98. Although their website still mentions as 2GB for Rs.98, I personally saw in a USSD reply after disconnecting mobile data network that mentions ‘Get 1GB data for Rs.98/month’ in my mobile.
So the next time you recharge with Rs.98, be advised that you will only get 1GB of data. It is still not sure if the same thing applies for those who have opted for auto-renewal. My 2GB pack auto-renews around 12 th of every month and this month, I still got 2GB data. Should wait and see what happens next month.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise since telecom companies do need get their revenues up. It was only recently that Airtel has increased its tariff by 20%, which was followed by other companies as well. So it’s Airtel leading again reducing the data usage, and I assume other networks will follow this step as well.
Remember those days in 90’s, each call used to cost you over Rs.15 per minute, which came down to around Rs.8 in late 90’s and early this century. Now we are barely being charged 80 paisa on average for 1 minute call. It’s strange that while prices of almost every other thing goes up as days pass; the telecom tariff’s have come by quite a margin.
Common guys, let them make some money too.
Now that 8GB came down to 4 GB… I’ve checked with airtel just now.
Hi,
Don’t worry! You can still be benefited from Rs. 251/- recharge which provides you 8GB for 90 Days with Airtel (2G).
I am currently using it in Andhra Pradesh and Customer care can’t do this recharge, you have to e-recharge after confirming the rate from Airtel.
Enjoy ….
