dear Delna at first change your sim from 2g to 3g by sms’ing 3G TO 121 then u will get 2gb for 6 months, during roaming you’ll not get activated, me too a n8 user along with airtel.
So what should i do now ..? should i wait for my 6 month period to complete? or activate 3G ? also there is an option in settings->network->network mode->GSM/3G .. can we use it ?
this offer is on 2G only.If u activate 3G, then ur 2G data would be deactivate
Airtel 2G speed is comparatively low than Tata Docomo,!dea,Reliance…..(Dont know about other operator speed)
I recently bought my nokia x2-01 and on the pack there was a airtel sticker that i will get 100mb data free /month for 12 months.. However i got the 100mb data free for 1 month… But the next month there was no such free data for 1 month… This is ridiculous! Airtel is such a fake
as i m sending message to 121 for 3g activation,it said that ur 2g data pack will be deactivated.
now what should i do….
today i got my 6 months net free.
can anybody can tell me that if i can access this plan with 3G speed or i have to use this only @ 2g speed.
The data plan is on 2G network. But using it on 3G network should see some speed improvement over pure 2G. So you should tell us how it works?
Samething happened to me but I sent a mail to ’121@airtelindia.com’ and they enabled the 2GB data free offer.

AIRTEL SUCKS no one knows either nokia or airtel about this two GB free free for 6 months offer it is fake call from Airtel before I could know that it is a fake offer i have already lost on the download charges

same thing happenened with me….i didnt expect this from airtel…the website clearly says there is an offer with nokia n8…and customer care says there is no such offer…and that to so rudely as if airtel is so proud of making fool of its customer..i used to like airtel a lot…but for the first time here it goes…’AIRTEL SUCKS’….
I bought Nokia N8 in Dec-2010 without even knowing the airtel offer. Only after purchasing the handset, I asked the shop service person about the airtel sticker pasted on the product pack and came to know about the offer. I bought new airtel SIM card and the data offer was activated withing 2 hours without me doing anything. It has been good since then. Since last evening (02.02.2010), I am getting 3G service after I completed the 3G activation procedure by sending an sms with “3G” to 121 a day before. The speed is amazing compared to the speed I was getting earlier with 2G service.

Yup, although this offer is on 2G Data, once your city is in 3G coverage, you get significantly more speeds (using Mobile Office APN only)

I ve been an airtel customer for atleast 8 yrs nw and i recently got the nokia n8 , I was told by the nokia dealer that i wud get free internet for 6 months n I ve not got any free internet i keep calling customer care andthey tell me there s no such scheme, how ignorant are the airtel employees its so frustrating talking to them wen they keep telling you there s no such thing for nokia n8…
my balance was 172 n nw in 1 day its 12

hey delna same happen to me … but when i buy…… they say it that…. there is free internet nd when i call them they say call nokia nd when calling Nokia then they say that call airtel.. nd both company is bullshit
hahaha same happened to me too. i downloaded too much and wasted nearly because of tis advertisement from nokia. i inserted my sim and downloaded so much, finally my balance vanished from 700 to 325. when asked to airtel they told me to contact nokia.
@all, if this offer doesn’t work, there are 2 other offers for Nokia mobiles that you may want to try.
1. Type MYDATA and send to 543210 (you’ll get 100MB free for 2 months each at no cost)
2. Type DATA and send to 543210 (you’ll get 2GB of data per month for 2 months at Rs.49/month).
Note: If you try the second one, Rs.98 would be debited from your balance once the offer gets activated. SMS to 543210 will be toll free.
same here.. but i visited airtel relationship center and they said they need to see the coupon and then only they can activate the offer. now am looking forward to it
