You might already be aware of Airtel’s Rs.98 2GB Data plan which gives you 2GB of free data with 30 days validity. If you have phones such as Samsung Galaxy S, Wave or Nokia N8, you would get special data rates with Airtel.
Now apart from those plans, here are other Data plans that you might be interested in.
RC 51 gives you 1GB free browsing with 15 days validity (no Talk time)
RC 99 gives you 1GB with 30 days validity plus 30 minutes talk time plus 500 free SMS
Now if 2GB isn’t enough for you AND you are satisfied with Airtel’s 2G speed, you can go for higher GB’s with the following plan.
RC 250 gives you 8GB Data with 90 days (3 months) validity.
Since this is not a monthly valid recharge, the effective GB each month comes out as 2.66 GB. But you are free to use all 8GB in one month and then recharge again with Rs.250 for another 8GB. Or, preserve as many GB’s in the first two months and use all the remaining GB’s in the last month.
If you have Data cards such as Micromax MMX 200G Data card, you can use your Airtel sim to use this data or if you have a good enough mobile, you can connect it to your PC using a Data cable (and PC suite) and surf on your Desktop/ laptop.
Update: This plan used to exist before, but recently all data plans tariff have been raised and in the process, this Rs.250 data pack has been completely lifted. So this plan is currently not available in any circle and there are good chances that this may never come back again, atleast not for some years to come.
This was such as cool plan compared to the current tariff of Rs.125 for 1GB of 2G data per month. So clearly, with these data plans running, it doesn’t make sense for airtel to run the Rs.250 plan alongside.
