Aircel has now officially become the fourth private operator after Tata Docomo, Reliance and Airtel to launch its 3G services in India. Looking at the tariff, it is now clear that there won’t be any price wars in the 3G domain that was so common in 2G, a year ago. Although the data plans given below only apply to UP East, we can safely believe that they won’t be much different to other circles’ plans.
The plans, as always, are separated in to dedicated 3G Data plans and plans that are bundled with Voice talk time.
3G Data plans
Rs.7 – Daily pack – 8MB free data
Rs.21 – 3 days validity – 25 MB data
Rs.92 – 30 days validity – 100MB data
Rs.202 – 30 days validity – 250MB data
Rs.602 – 30 days – 1 GB data
Rs.975 – 30 days – 2.5 GB data
Note: the first two plans (Rs.7 and 21) are only applicable to prepaid users and will only give speeds up to 1.8Mbps. The rest of the plans are for both prepaid and postpaid and speeds will be up to 3.6Mbps. The highest plan, Rs.975 per month will gives speeds up to 7.2Mbps
3G Bundled plans (All with a validity of 30 days and applicable to prepaid & postpaid)
Rs.132 – 75MB Data – 50 local and 50 STD minutes – 100 SMS
Rs.252 – 150MB Data – 100 local and 100 STD minutes – 250 SMS
Rs.502 – 350MB Data – 200 local and 200 STD minutes – 400 SMS
Rs.802 – 1GB Data – 250 local and 250 STD minutes – 500 SMS
Rs.1502 – 3GB Data – 500 local and 500 STD minutes – 1000 SMS
Note: SMS includes both local and national. Speeds for all plans will be up to 3.6Mbps except for the Rs.1502 plan where you might get up to 7.2Mbps
As you can see, although there’s not much difference in the Data plans with other operators, the bundled plans are clearly the best in the industry.
