Here’s the Baap of all Unlimited Mobile Internet plans from telecom Operators, the Tata Docomo Unlimited Mobile Internet at Rs.95. Recharge with Rs.95 on your Tata Docomo and get 6GB of GPRS Data for free. Yes, a massive 6GB for just Rs.95. But the question is, do I need 6GB for my mobile?
I currently use Airtel’s Unlimited GPRS pack that offers 2GB of Data for Rs.98. The dedicated balance for Internet account (dial *123*10# from your Airtel mobile) after that recharge will be some Rs.2097. Each month, I hardly go below Rs.1900. Which means that I hardly consumer 200MB of Data on my mobile and the rest is all going waste. I have to mention that I frequently use my mobile to access Internet. GPRS will always be active for the push email notifications, I read hundreds of feeds that I subscribed from Google reader on my mobile and use several tens of Applications that need network access.
I certainly can’t let go my Airtel Broadband and use this Mobile Internet as my only gateway to the Internet as I would be frustrated with the awfully low GPRS speeds, compared to my 2Mbps Airtel BB speed at home.
Coming back to Tata Docomo, there’s another plan for Rs.48 that gives 2GB of Data. If I were a Tata Docomo customer, I would subscribe to this one rather than the Rs.95 pack.
If you are an extremely lite user, better don’t subscribe for any Mobile Internet pack at all as the default tariff of 50p/MB itself is extremely low compared to Airtel’s 20ps/50KB.
Rs.95 and Rs.48 recharges are available via Electronic recharge only. Once recharged with either of the packs, you should make sure that your mobile is using ‘DOCOMOINTERNET’ access point when connecting to the Internet.
To receive APN settings, SMS INTERNET to 52270 and save the settings as default.
Update: This is no longer true. Tata Docomo too has revised plans on par with other operators. For Rs.95 (or slightly more or less, depending on your state), you now get just 1 GB of 2G data.
