India Post Advanced SMS services

To improve the user experience of their customers who use India Posts’ Speed Post service, India Post has upgraded EMS Speed post service for easy tracking of the consignments.

Users can now track their shipments by sending an SMS as following:

SP<space>Speed Post number and send it to 55352.

This service is in addition to the web tracking system which existed since a long time. Users can go to India Post website and track their Speed post items by providing the receipt number and date of booking. If you need to be informed when the delivery happens to the consignee, you should input your email address while tracking the status via Web site.

Changes in Speed Post rates

Following these improvements, India Post has also implemented something similar to BSNL’s One India Plan, its called ‘One India One Rate’, where any Speed Post booking weighing less than 50 gms will be charged at Rs.25 flat to any destination in India.

If it is a Local Speed Post service (with in State Postal circle), you can avail the ‘Value for Money’ offer which charges Speed post at Rs.12, if under 50 gms.
