Secunderabad is the centre for the South-central railways and is the largest revenue generator for Indian Railways. Shirdi is a popular tourist spot in India situated in the adjoining State of Maharashtra. However, till date no rail route is made directly to Shirdi and many promises made by Railway Ministers have yet not yielded the fruits.
In this case, if you wish to travel to Shirdi by Train from Secunderabad/Hyderabad, you have to take a train that is destined to Manmad Junction and get down at Nagarsol, catch a connecting Bus from there and reach Shirdi in another 2-3 hours.
Just make a search in the Official Indian railways website for trains with Source from either Secunderabad or Hyderabad and destination being Manmad. Or you can take any train that has Nagarsol of Maharashtra in its Route Map.
For you quick information, the following trains are shuttling between Secunderabad and Manmad Junction.
Ajantha Express, which starts from Secunderabad at 6.10PM and reaches Manmad Junction at 6.40AM. But you’d reach Nagarsol well before 6.40AM. This train is available in every day of a week. The fare for this train in Sleeper class is Rs.254 including Rs.20 as reservation charges.
Devagiri express starts from Secunderabad at 1.30PM and reaches Manmad junction at 1.50AM. This train too is available in all days of a week.
SC MMR Express starts from Secunderabad at 6.10PM and reaches Manmad Junction at 7.30AM. This train only runs on Friday and Sunday.
There is also a special train from Visakhapatnam (Vizag) to Sainagar Shirdi that will be made available occasionally in summer season when the passenger numbers increases.
This train starts from Vizag at 5.30AM and reaches Secunderabad Junction at 6.10PM and then proceeds to Sainagar Shirdi and reaches the destination at 11AM the next day. Please confirm whether this train is available or not by making a call to railway inquiry number 139.
