State Bank of India already has a Smart Phone app for customers who want to manage their bank account from their mobiles. But not everyone has a Smart Phone; fear not, as the bank has launched Onlinesbi on Mobile; a mobile version of its Internet Banking site. This can be accessed using any mobile that can access Internet using a browser. All you have to do is go to m.onlinesbi.com from your phones’ browser and you can (almost) enjoy all the features available on the desktop site.
The same desktop login details shall be used for the mobile version too. This mobile rendered version is currently available for customers with Savings, Current and Salary accounts. However, Salary account holders can only ‘check’; meaning that they cannot do transactions.
How to make Funds Transfers
Just like in the Desktop version, you can make transfers to your own accounts in the same branch/bank, others accounts in the same bank or a different bank through NEFT/RTGS. However, funds can only be transferred to those accounts that have been already registered and activated from the desktop version. New beneficiary accounts can also be only registered from the desktop site. But I believe as the mobile site evolves, this feature will make it to the Mobile version.
If you don’t have High Security feature disabled (which is NOT recommended) in the desktop version, you can also make fund transfers up to Rs.10000 per day without a One Time Password (OTP). Remember that you can still make fund transfers if you have High Security enabled but you will have to enter the OTP received on your mobile as an SMS to complete your transfer (going to SMS and back to browser might not be possible on a Non-smartphone).
Other features such as Bill Payments (for registered billers), opening or closing of Term Deposits/ Special Term Deposits, getting statement of recent transactions are also available.
Since this is mobile, it is recommended that you do not have login id and password in your browser, especially if you have High Security Disabled.
