Did you know that you can recharge your mobile using your SBI debit card by a simple SMS?
You may well have recharged your mobile using the ATM’s but other users standing behind you may have been screaming at you seeing the time it takes to recharge using the ATM machine. But from now, you don’t have to worry about the screams.
For this to happen you first have to register once at any State Bank ATM and from then you simply have to send an SMS to get your recharge done.
By this way you can recharge Vodafone, Idea, Reliance, Airtel and BPL prepaid mobiles without paying any extra charge.
If you are an Airtel subscriber, the SMS/ATM recharge facility is available in 11 circles across India viz., Mumbai, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, UP (East and West), MP, Gujarat, Tamilnadu and Chennai.
You must send the SMS as follows (only after registering once by visiting any ATM):
Airtel – Type RC<space>amount<space>PIN and send it to 535.
For example Type RC 141 xxxx and send it to 535
BPL – Type RC<space>SBI<space>amount<space>PIN and send it to 140.
Vodafone – Type RC<space>SBI<space>amount<space>PIN and send it to 147.
Idea – Type RC<space>SBI<space>amount<space>PIN and send it to 575.

any ways just simple follow these step to get mobile banking done on your mobile and then after you can recharge it anytime any where…
the very first step ..you must have java based phone..who doesnt undrstnd this..i simply say phone which cost 4000 or above from ur pockt can operate mobile banking from there mobile.i personally sujest..go for some brand name phone…lik nokia,sony,samsung etc..
secondly simply open a page-http://mobile.prepaidsbi.com/sbidownloader/downloadapp.jsp
you can choose your mobile n model n download it on ur mobile via pc.now install it on mobile.(note:if u dont find your model simply download generic version)
now open that application -option>thn register>allow once>thn wait a while ..a message from BT 567676 will send you two messg..in one it contain ur user id and default pin.
ok now you go to your account branch office and requst thm to activate mobile banking for ur account..they will take ur account detail,verify you,your mobile no.and your usr id which you had recievd..thats it..they will make your account activate with mobile bnking facility…
now you can open that applictn again,simply entr your usr id n dont forget it..login..it will ask for old pin and your neqw pin..just confrm it..n now wollahhh…u can operate your mobile banking..and now on that you can top up ur mobile by providng ur servc prvdr name ,ur no. n amount,…hop it will help you guys in future..best of luck…

Wonderful and informative blog it is.
After so many comments I don’t know weather you are still moderating these comments or not, but I am unsuccessful in the first step itself. I.e., registering through ATM. I have tried more than 6 ATMs, say of Fourt, Churchgate, Virar, Vasai, etc., all of them in Mumbai.
I do get the transaction slip saying request accepted, but with response code 001. According to customer care it means that due to technical reasons request could not be processed.
Certain ATMs after finishing all the steps, say that ‘ATM out of service’.
My branch says that this feature is available in newer ATMs, and the General Manager of ATM department does not respond to emails.
Quite funny if asked from customer care, they say keep trying!
Airtel customer care doesn’t understand even single thing about this service. In fact their seniors also clearly refuse saying that we don’t provide any such service. But I understand their intelligence level so lets better shut our mouths in that regard.
The SBI Verified By Visa email address also gives failure notice.
I believe that this service is also available for Visa enabled debit cards and it is not restricted to Mastro Debit cards. However Mastro card website state about this service, whereas Visa website does not. But when you pay using your Visa card online, on the payment portal page it is mentioned that do get 3d secure password.
However for those who don’t know the process, its pretty simple:
1. Go to ATM Machine and insert your ATM card.
2. Choose “Mobile Registration”,
3. Enter your ATM PIN number,
4. Now press “SMS/Secure Code” from the side buttons.
5. Enter your prepaid number,
6. Confirm,
7. Take the slip which will say request accepted.
Note that for successful request your response code should be 000 as said by customer care SBI.
