Railway credit cards- Discounts for frequent travellers

If you are a frequent Railway traveller, here is some good news for you. Indian Railways in association with State Bank of India Credit Cards has introduced Railway cards with exclusive reward point system.

For every booking you make through IRCTC website using your SBI Railway card, you earn points which you can redeem for free tickets or discounted tickets.

You can earn upto 10% of your AC ticket as railway points. You can even shop using your Railway card and earn reward points for every rupee spent. You can use this card at IOC and IBP petrol pumps and get 0% transaction fee.

You can earn 1 railway point for every Rs.1 spent using your SBI Railway card.

Shubh Yatra program for frequent travellers

The point earning system is as follows:

For express rewards you earn 4 railway points for every Rs.100 spent. Note that this is valid if the date of travel is in between April 1 – July 4 and September 16 – January 14.

For Super Fast rewards, you earn 10 points for every Rs.100 spent. Note that this is valid only if the date of travel is between January 15 – march 31 and July 15 to September 15.

You can earn points in this Shubh Yatra program only if the tickets are purchased from the IRCTC website. Also note that the Railway points can be earned only on AC 1^st and 2^nd class, Executive chair car and AC chair car.

You can start redeeming your points once you reach a minimum of 500 points. To redeem, you must login to your IRCTC account.

To apply for both SBI Railway card and/or to be a part of the Shubh Yatra program you need to login to your irctc account and look for these under services on the left sidebar.
