The Supreme Court has given green signal for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal corporation elections to go on. Earlier the High Court of Andhra Pradesh has issued a stay on the GHMC polls on the basis that the determination of Backward classes was faulty and illegal and the exclusion of creamy layer as another reason. The Government of Andhra Pradesh moved to the Supreme Court to challenge the High court order and now all lines are cleared for the polls to go ahead.
The Government wanted to conduct the polls for Hyderabad as soon as the General election result was out on the fact that the people would vote in a similar fashion.
This election is being considered very prestigious by all parties as Hyderabad is the centre for politics in the state and that the party that has a top hand in the city will have an advantage.
There are nearly 50 lakh voters in Greater Hyderabad region spread across 150 divisions.
You can search the electoral rolls for your name and find your polling booth in the voter list. If yo already have your Voter ID card, you can even search for your ward using your Voter ID card number.
