We have one funny post earlier regarding population stats of India compared with Australia’s. Now here’s a similar story; you might be aware that United Nations estimated the Worlds’ 7 billionth baby will be born on 31 October, Monday. That day has come and Plan International, a Child rights organization has chosen baby ‘Nargis’ born to Vinita and Ajay in Uttar Pradesh as the 7 billionth child. The baby was born at 7.25 on Monday Morning. On the other hand, Philippines declared itself that 7 billionth baby was born in their country.
You can clearly see the confusion and United Nations thinks on the same lines. It rubbishes the idea of pinpointing anyone as 7 billionth baby on earth. Plan International doesn’t disagree with that but it simply chose the baby from UP, India to raise awareness on ills of female abortion.
Here is one fun fact. Around 500 babies are born in India since I started writing this article (that’s nearly 51 babies every minute). And deaths, 19 every minute.
BBC has created a funny app to determine your number on Earth. Go here and see if you a funky number.
