Most people who have long names would utilize this feature. But, when it comes to any financial matter, like opening a Demat account or filing your income tax, it appears to your tax consultant as if your name is printed wrongly and tell you that you’d need to change your name on the PAN card.
This can also be a problem if you use Xerox copy of your PAN card that contains a short desired name for any Identification purposes.
In such cases, it is highly advised to have a copy of the record of your PAN card as seen in the Income Tax office Data base.
For this, please visit http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/knowpan.do
