In today’s busy world it should be a difficult task to keep record of the due dates of our premiums. Most often, you will get a premium due date reminder from LIC of India through a post. But some times, you may not get that reminder or get it after the due date and some times even after the grace period. If your agent is good enough, he’ll remind you to pay your premium on time, but if it is otherwise, you are left with paying a penalty to revive a lapsed policy.
To make our lives simple, LIC has introduced a National Helpline number (an Interactive Voice response system) 1251 which the insured can call to know their premium due date.
This number can be called from any BSNL and MTNL numbers, if you reside in any one of the following cities, Vizag, Vijayawada, Patna, Cuttack, Asansol, Shillong, Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Jammu, Shimla, Surat, Rajkot, Mysore, Vadodara, Darwad, Kozhikode, Trivandrum, Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly, Varanasi, Kanpur, Kota, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Meerut, Jodhpur, Lucknow, Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai, Thanjavur, Pondicherry, Goa, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Nashik, Gorakhpur and Raipur.
This IVRS number will be available 24×7 and can be availed by people living in the above mentioned places (people in other areas can call by using an STD code of any of the city mentioned above)
For people living in Metros and Major cities in India, viz, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Indore, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Ernakulam and Jamshedpur, the same number (1251) can be called from 8am to 8pm from Monday to Friday and from 10am to 6pm on Saturdays to know much more than just your policy and premium status.
