In areas where 3G is still not available, the EDGE network of speed up to 237kbps DL and 118kbps UL or GPRS network with speeds of 85.6kbps DL and 42.8 Kbps UL will be on offer.
Any standard 6 pin SIM card complaint with 3GPP 31.101 and 31.102 can be used with this data card. The USB data card contains an Internal Antenna and will be Auto Installed by the Vista/ XP Operating System.
The SIM and Data service simultaneous operation is an addition to this data card where the SIM can also be used to send and receive SMS’s at the same time when it is being used for Data purposes.
The price of this Data Card along with BSNL (MTNL for metro’s) Kit is approximately Rs.3500.
Update: This USB data card initially came locked with BSNL Sim card but you can easily unlock it and use it with any other GSM sim card such as Airtel, Vodafone and Idea. I have used it with airtel 3G sim card in Hyderabad on Windows 8 and it gives a decent speed of 2.8 Mbps downlink. This Modem, along with 200G are discontinued by Micromax so you cannot have USB drivers at present. Though I can confirm that it installs everything necessary by itself on a Windows 7 and 8 PC’s.
