Is there an Internet facility on Tata Sky Plus?
I don’t have the answer now but I can confidently say that it sure has plans for Internet in the future. Only time will tell how sooner.
On the day of installing and activating my new Tata Sky plus connection, the Engineer nicely explained to me what all the additional cables that come with Tata Sky plus are meant for. Describing one such cable he said ‘Tata Sky may have Internet in the future, so this cable should be used for that purpose’.
I looked at the back end of the Digicomp box and found 2 nice ports that only mean one thing, Internet. One was the Modem port and the other was an Ethernet port.
Internet on TV is nothing new. Large TV’s such as the recent Samsung 3D LED TV has a dedicated store on its TV that can be accessed using a wireless network (Internet) or a cable via Ethernet port.
For those TV’s that do not have an Ethernet or Modem port directly with them, use of STB’s such as Digicomp in case of Tata Sky plus will do the work.
As far as I know, it’s just a software thing that has to be worked on.
Nothing happens when you connect a modem that you currently use for your broadband with your Digicomp now. But Develop and Deploy suitable software and a UI to the Digicomp, you should be ready to access the Internet from your TV.
