Free Tata Photon plus offer (1st month rental on yearly subscription)

Tata Photon branded wireless Internet service has brought in a new range of offers and tariff plans to broaden in user base.

Untill recently, Tata Photon plus was only available on a monthly rental basis and now there is an addition of yearly subscription plan in which you also get a waiver of first month rental. One thing with Tata Photon is that its plans are limited (even the costliest plan of Rs.1500/month rent only gives 15GB free usage). Previously, for every MB that was used beyond the free usage the charge was Rs.2, but now, it’s slashed to only 50ps/MB (We wonder whether the tariff war in telecom is now turning towards wireless Internet?)

The new yearly subscription plans of Tata Photon + are as follows:

Rs.7800/yr – 1GB free usage per month.

Rs.9000/yr – 2 GB free usage per month

Rs.11400/yr – 5 GB free usage per month

Rs.13200/yr – 10 GB free usage per month.

The Photon plus device costs Rs.3500 in Bangalore (and it should just be the same elsewhere in India)

The speed promised (or advertised) is 3.1mbps and it should be quick enough in areas where it provides the services. All the major metros and state capitals should be covered under the Tata Photon plus service besides some 2 tier cities like Vizag, Nasik, Nagpur, Kanpur, Cochin, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat, Vapi, Mundra etc.

Note that you’ll strictly not get the speeds any where near 3.1 mbps if you live in areas other than these listed above.

The network automatically switches to 1x speed in Non HSIA coverage areas.

So it’s better to contact the customer care before purchasing one.
