Free DTH service in India
Would any one dream of a free DTH or Direct to Home service in India when the competition is immense among players like Sun Direct, Dish TV, Big TV, TATA Sky, Airtel Digital TV and the up coming Videocon Direct to Home?
If at all any one can provide the service, it can only be the State owned Doordarshan’s DD Direct +. DD Direct is the only DTH service in India that provides free satellite based television programs. Also it may not be wrong to say the fact that DD remains the sole DTH provider in the country to reach as many as 90% of Indian population.
Just as the Indian Post, which can reach every corner of the country is going through an overhauling process with a name Project Arrow, DD Direct has gone through several improvements and hence a new name DD Direct +.
As of now 9 April 2009, DD Direct provides as many as 59 channels and 21 radio channels as its content, all for free. Out of the 59 channels 35 channels are private channels and the remaining are Doordarshan’s channels.
The 59 channels include 29 Hindi channels, 3 punjabi channels, 1 Bangla channel, 1 Marathi channel, 2 English channels, 1 Assamese channel and 20 regional channels with most of them being South Indian channels.
Some of the channels are :
NEWS channels
India News, News 24, News Live, Total TV, Azad news, NTV Telugu, P7 News, IBN Lokmat and PTC news.
Music channels
ETC Punjabi, Music India, MH1 Music, ETC music, B4U music and 9X Music
Regional channels
Jai Hind TV, Amrita TV, Kairali TV being Malayalam, Kalaigna, Makkal and Mega TV being Tamil and Star Jalsha being Bengali.
Besides these channels all Doordarshan’s channels such as DD1, DD news, DD sports DD saptagiri and many DD regional channels will also be there.
There is a one-time and only one time fee of Rs.3000 for installing the satellite dish and the Set top box in your home after which there will not be any recurring fee every month.

I was buying DTH in the year 2006. That time E-TV marathi, Aajtak etc., channel shown. But past 2-3 years as above channels are pay channel. I was buying TATA Sky. I am buying 1) Free DTH and 2) TATA Sky set top box. I sujested if free DTH Services any pay channel viewing in the DTH and one code no or other no. and shown to channel.
SAM Marathi why do not showing DTH Channel.

FOR PAST15 DAYS DD DIRECT DISH SIGNALS ARE NOT BEING RECEIVED PROPERLY. I GOT IT CHECKED BY LOCAL SERVICE PROVOIDER. HE SAID THAT DUE WEAK SIGNALS ARE BEING TRANSMITTED BY DD, HENCE HE ADVISED TO BUY NEW UMBRELLA FOR BETTER SIGNAL. I HAVE BOUGHT THIS IN JUST 4 MONTHS BACK.PL ADVICE.

If u dont recharge your sundirect within 2 months then they will take your antenna and set top box back so be carefull taking sundth and it does not provide mutlidimensional pack.

Mr.Sandeep as for as dth is concerned you cannot connect 15 houses with a single dish and single receiver.But you can purchase 15 receivers each for one home and they can be connected to a single dish.

A channel can be the part of dd direct plus by paying only 25 lakh ruppees per year to doordarshan..few years back it was 1 crore..now it has been reduced..so we can wish new channels coming in dd direct plus especially channels like isai aruvi..
