The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr.Y S Raja Sekhara Reddy (Update: late) fondly known as YSR by his followers is celebrating his 60th birthday today on 8th July 2009. He was born on 8 July 1949 in Pulivendula of Kadapa District in Andhra Pradesh.
Even though he is the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and always stays in the Spot light, there are not many who know what the surname of Rajasekhara Reddy, YS means. No surprise that my Grand father who is an ardent follower of YSR and supporter of Congress party doesn’t knew the same.
YS stands for ‘Yeduguri Sandinti’.
As you may know he has done his MBBS from Gulbarga University and later completed his credentials for becoming a Doctor by joining as a House surgeon in S.V. Medical College, Tirupati. In very less time he was elected as the leader of the House surgeon’s association for his leadership skills. So one can say that his Political career was started at that very moment. Later he went on to join the Youth Congress which belongs to INC and rest is History.
He may have celebrated 59 Birthdays prior to this one, but this is something special. This is first birthday, after being re-elected as the Chief Minister of state by its people. This shows the amount of faith that people of Andhra Pradesh have in him. And this didn’t come that easily. The opposition parties were all lining and teaming up with only one intention of defeating YSR and Congress party. But YSR stood firm it was he who campaigned across the State alone to see his party emerge as the winner. Kudos to him really.
He always says that he’ll celebrate his birthday only on that day when all the projects under ‘Jalayagnam’ are completed and all the 1.33 crores of hectares are provided with water supply. He also shows great interest in Indiramma Illu which provides free homes to the poor and Rajiv Swagruha project which provides apartments at lesser cost to low income group people.
But sadly, if you are one of his millions of supporters who want to wish him a very happy birthday, he is not available in Hyderabad today. He along with his family members flew to Goa yesterday and will be coming back in 5 days.
But surely, there is no problem if you want to wish a Happy Birthday here. Just write down your message and well wishes to him below.
Update: Beloved YSR is physically no longer with us bit his memories will be forever. You can still wish him a very happy birthday.
