APSRTC Indra AC buses; Volvo experience at cheaper price

Travelling from a district headquarter to Hyderabad in an APSRTC bus? Now you can pay less than what you need to pay for Volvo buses and still get the same AC experience. Until now, travellers had to take a decision between Super Luxury and Volvo. For most of those people, it was a choice made due to the difference in ticket fares in the two services. Realizing this, the Corporation has introduced ‘Indra AC Bus’, which will sit between the two services in pricing.

While APSRTC charges 80ps/km for Super Luxury and Rs.1.40/km for Volvo, the Corporation has primarily come to a decision to charge Rs.1.20/km for Indra AC buses; although this is likely to come down to Rs.1/km.

By the end of this year, APSRTC plans to run 200 such buses from every district to Hyderabad. Each bus will have 40 seats and has cost Rs.31 lakhs for the APSRTC’s exchequer.

In other news, twin city travellers will soon some (at least 100) of their local buses running on CNG.  CNG buses are already running successfully in other cities in AP, such as in Vijayawada, but the project hit a road block in Hyderabad/Secunderabad due to non-available of Gas; which seems to be solved now.
