3G Operators in Metros and other states

So after a 1 month of intense bidding, here we are with the provisional list of Mobile Operators who have secured 3G licenses in respective circles (State/circle wise):

Delhi: Bharti Airtel, Reliance communications and Vodafone

Mumbai: Bharti Airtel, Reliance communications and Vodafone

Kolkata: Aircel, Reliance communications and Vodafone

Tamilnadu (including Chennai): Aircel, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone

Andhra Pradesh (including Hyderabad): Bharti Airtel, Aircel and Idea

Karnataka (including Bangalore): Aircel, Bharti Airtel and Tata

Maharashtra: Idea, Tata and Vodafone

Gujarat: Idea, Tata and Vodafone

Kerala: Aircel, Idea and Tata

Punjab: Aircel, Idea, Reliance communication and Tata

Haryana: Idea, Tata and Vodafone

Uttar Pradesh east: Aircel, Idea and Vodafone

Uttar Pradesh west: Bharti Airtel,, Idea and Tata

Rajasthan: Bharti Airtel, Reliance communications and Tata

Madhya Pradesh: Idea, Reliance communications and Tata

West Bengal: Aircel, Bharti Airtel, Reliance communications and Vodafone

Himachal Pradesh: Bharti Airtel, Idea, Reliance communications and S Tel

Bihar: Aircel, Bharti Airtel, Reliance communications and S Tel

Orissa: Aircel, Reliance communications and S Tel

Assam: Aircel, Bharti Airtel  and Reliance communications

North East: Aircel, Bharti Airtel and Reliance communications

Jammu and Kashmir: Aircel, Bharti Airtel, Idea and Reliance communications

Note that this is only a provisional list and the final list will only be confirmed once the Operators who secured the licenses pay the required fee to the Government with in the dead line, which is currently May 31st, 2010.

Now what if your favorite Mobile Operator failed to secure 3G license in your circle?

You could either move to another Operator who has secured license in your circle or wait a little more to see if there is any possibility of Operators sharing the bandwidth. This could be possible if a situation arises where a certain operator who secured the license for a circle experiences poor response from its users and in order to minimize the losses, may share the BW with another operator who failed to get a license.

I certainly don’t have to worry about that as Airtel managed to grab the AP circle. It had to win in AP circle; after all, AP contributes the most in terms of subscribers for Airtel.
