Few days back I wrote about LIC Mediclaim Policy (Actually its a LIC health plus policy) and said how it was better than a dedicated mediclaim policy. Here we see how the mediclaim policy of Apollo DKV looks like.
Apollo DKV health insurance plans are divided into plans for Individuals and Family floater separately.
Further, these plans are divided into Standard, Exclusive and Premium depending on the premium amount and the benefits each one derives.
The plans can cover ranging from Rs.1 lakh to 10 lakhs depending on the needs of the proposed person(s).
The Standard plan is the most affordable plan of the 3 which exclusively starts at only Rs.3 per day.
The Sum Assured in this plan per insured person per year can be selected from 1 to 5 lakhs.
This covers incidents like In patient treatment, Pre- hospitalisation, Post hospitalisation, Day care, Home treatment, expenses for organ donor of transplant etc.
While using a shared accommodation a minimum of Rs.500 per day and a maximum of Rs.3000 can also be availed. Rs.2000 can be availed for using Ambulance in emergency.
One main area this plan doesn’t cover is the maternity phase and for that the Exclusive plan should be your option. This plan covers everything that a Standard plan covers and in addition it has maternal expenses payable of up to Rs.40000 if it is a caesarean delivery and Rs.25000 if it is a normal delivery (Note that this cover is applicable for Sum Assured value of Rs.7.5 lakhs).
Again, this plan doesn’t cover things like Out patient dental treatment with waiting period of 3 years, Spectacles, lenses, hearing aids, e-option from Apollo doctors during critical conditions.
The Premium health plan takes care of all the above things including everything that a Exclusive plan does.
Here is a Quick comparison of all the three health plans of Apollo DKV.

There wouldn’t be many insurance companies, if any, willing to give you a mediclaim policy ‘without’ a medical check up at that age.
