Videocon Dual Sim Touch screen mobile phone review

by Sriraj on November 7, 2009

Till now we saw many Dual Sim mobiles but most of them are from new entrants into the market like Karbonn mobiles, Micromax etc. We saw why top tier companies like Nokia didn’t bother to enter the Dual Sim market and wondered whether there’ll be any top tier company producing Dual Sim mobiles in India.

Here is a company, albeit new into Mobile phones, that has got a great respect in India and has huge service centres entering the arena. If you are still wondering what company it is, it’s Videocon.

Here is a small review of fantastic product (Dual Sim and Touch screen phone) from a fantastic company.

Videocon V1750 Dual Sim Touch Screen phone review

Videocon-dual-sim-phoneFirst, it has a 3.2 inch TFT full touch screen along with Dual Sim (GSM+GSM) option, one that is most wanted today in India with ever decreasing calling rates.

It has a motion sensor which automatically changes the wall paper, shuffles music and a G sensor that automatically rotates the screen menu horizontally or vertically according to your use.

It has a standard 3.5 inch headphone jack with adjustable equalizer containing options like Jazz, Pop, Hip hop, Classical, Rock etc. An addition to this is the Bass booster option.

It has an FM Radio with recording feature and can play songs in mp3, wma, aac,wav formats and videos in avi, mpeg4 and 3gp formats.

The external memory of the phone is expandable up to 8GB giving you plenty of space to load all your songs, videos and pictures or use it as a mass storage device.

The camera is a 3.2 mega pixel one with LED flash and Auto focus. An addition, again, to this is an Image editor option, with which you can edit the picture in various ways like adjust the colour, contrast, brightness, reduce red eye even before transferring the pictures to your computer.

When it comes to connectivity, it supports Quad band GSM, has GPRS and EDGE capabilities besides Bluetooth streaming option.

For security, this one has got mobile tracking option with which you can track your mobile from any where in case it is found missing.

Another cute little feature, which you may have already be using in your Nokia phone by installing a software called call cheater, is the Background noise simulation option which produces different background sounds like in an Airport, Theatre, Railway station etc while you are talking, giving you a chance to ‘pose’ as if you were a busy person :D

You get 2 styluses, a car charger, data cable, wired headset, pouch, charger along with the V 1750 handset.

All this for only Rs.9795. Remember, this is not any Karbonn mobiles, Micromax mobiles etc (with due respect to both of them), but is a product from Videocon.

Problem 1: My new v1605 which I got for aroung 5100 last week stopped working yesterday. When I went to the service center, they said that a pin breaked from within and they would charge me 80% of the amount I paid to buy this phone. They confirmed tht a lot of phones are having this problem but still I have to pay to get it repaired. (I surely think tht ths phone is not worth 5100 + 80% ~ 9000)
Problem 2: Couldn’t play videos in .avi & .3gp right from day 1. (Irony: Name = “Video Con”)

My feedback – AVOID THESE PHONES else wud lose time, money & peace of mind!!!

Guys,
Don’t go for Videocon mobiles. I purchased V1675 model on 4/7/2010. From the very first day itself it started giving net work connection problem. When I took to service centre, they tried to reload software, but it is not accepting. Still they are trying. Go for Nokia or Samsung mobiles. Indian manufacturer don’t have that much technological expertise in this field. Still, they have to go a long journey.

so, Be careful with videocon mobiles

Videocon Company phones are very dangerous for your happy life.
I purchased on phone V series on 8 th of march,I came to know next day that its speaker is not working properly as opposite caller was unable to hear clear voice.I went to shopkeeper,he redirected me to service center. There I received a certificate,I went back to replace my phone to shopkeeper again, but he said that stock is return as whole lot was problomatic and I will get it after one month when new stock will come, again I went to shopkeeper after a month and took new phone, this one new phone was having issues with memory card slot,I replaced again next day and the phone I got now was having screen flickering problem.Guys even today after one and half month my phone is not with me and it is in service center.I purchased one headache in 7600/-.
The components of the phone is like a chinees mobile or less than that.
I did mistake but u dont…

what is battery back up for v1750? March 26, 2010 at 5:27 am

can anybody tell me about battery backup of this phone according to uses?

Hi Friends,

I bought V1750 on the second day of its launch, it costs me 7500 bucks. I was very excited to buy this cell. But after purchasing and using it for a week I am a bit disappointed. I think I could have opted Samsung. It’s touch screen is actually a hit screen, you need to hit your fingers on the screen to scroll messages and songs. It does not have pdf viewer. 3.2 mega pixel camera is actually disaster, worst than any nokia’s 2 mega pixel cam. In absense of light even with flash it clicks disastrous photos. You have to put your hand in still position to click photos otherwise in 90% cases the photos are blurred. I received 2 GB card with it. I filled 1 GB songs in it and it’s audio player software hanged. Then I went to shop keeper, he then restore factory settings which deleted all the new settings that I done during a week. The battery backup is also not good.

The only USP is its dual sim functionality which I works seemlessly very fine. The screen is quite wide which is its another USP.

Initially I thought I should buy indian brand cell phones to promote indian industries (being patriotic) but I think indian industries need to do work way beyond what they are doing currently if they wanna stay in the market.

If you guys are looking for a good touch screen cell and with good camera capability then go for samsung and not for this videocon because I think videocon need lot of time to evolve themselves in mobile business.

I would be most happiest person in this world if someone would revert my money back.
I repent my decision of buying videocon even when I was in dilemma of buying samsung star/corby.

HI..

ditto comment from me also. Do NOT Purchase this mobile. It has many features for this price, but what is the us if u need to take it to the service centre every alternate day for small issue. My mobile is just five days old and till now these are the issues faced

1. Mobile gets powered off when I select audio player
2. the mic goes mute in between and you need to restart the cell
3. The answer key in touch pad works on its convenience and I am forced to use the button below. That leaves me no option to make the ring silent.
4. The qwerty keypad that i supposed to automatically pen up when I tilt the phone rarely happens.

Well, these are in 5 days usaage. will update as soon as new issues pop up and guess thats soon going to happen. Videocon should really do something to make the phone more reliable and improve quality. The Phone looks and feels good.

If you just need a Dual Sim , go for Karbon/micromax etc. If u need branded Dual Sim, go for samsung.

i should have read your review before buying it . 7 days only and it has stopped working. the screen has frozen and the usb charger was faulty from day one. i hope the service centre guys are competent and dont give me shit that you dropped it or water problem, else rs7000 in drain. my nokia 1100 which i used for 2 year and kept it aside is still helping me as spare even after 5 years

Sriraj December 24, 2009 at 4:49 pm

If the phone spec reads ‘Dual Sim Dual Standby’ then the second Sim wouldn’t be switched off when using the other.

hello friends,

i have been looking for a stylish dual sim mobile for a long time and this one looks great. But i am worried about the performance of the mobile. I will be using one of my cards for browsing and the other one for making calls…. Is it capable of processing the request fast enough, it should not hang at any chance…… I would like to have some comments before i go or it…..

I bought this one today and everything is good except the touch screen. Not to worry, but it could have been a little better. You’ll be used to the sensitivity once you used for 2 hours.
No serious complaints
