Well as everyone keeps saying, it’s the touch screen Generation now. I touch mallika, devika, shalini…..Oh but no, I’m not talking about the LG touch screen mobiles now but this is about ‘Samsung Pixon‘. They say that this is the first touch screen mobile to power an 8 Mega Pixel Camera.
This is a 3.2 inches full touch screen mobile which is also a TFT resistant. Looks a bit bulky but weighs just about the same as other does in this class at 121gms. Pixon supports 3G network with HSDPA 2100 (7.2mbps) and 2G network with GSM 850/900/1800/1900.
The Internal memory provided is 200MB and the external memory slot can be used to use a memory up to 8GB. A common Bluetooth 2.0 A2DP and a MicroUSB 2.0 slots can also be seen in this one.
The thing that Samsung is highlighting is it’s camera which is really never seen before for a mobile phone. I mean 8 Mega Pixels with 16x Digital zooming, is always associated with Digital camera’s, at least until now. The 8MP pictures spread across 3264×2448 pixels. This one has Auto focus and an LED flash with other features that you would normally associate only with Dig camera’s like Geo-tagging, Face detection, Smile detection, Blink detection, Image correction, Auto light adjustments, Image stabilization etc.
Since this one has a good camera, the video quality too is very good at 30fps (WVGA) and 120fps (QVGA).
The browser supports standard HTML with GPS capabilities and the latest trend of online widget continues in this one too. This one has a built-in DivX player for videos which I think is missing badly in other mobile in this category. Of course this does support MP3, WMA, MP4, AMR, AAC, Xvid, WMV as well. It also has a TV-out port for quick viewing of pictures. All office documents can be read and composed with built-in Word, excel, Power point and Adobe PDF.
Samsung is priced at a reasonable Rs.22,999 for all the features that it has.
This one is very recently launched in India and You can book your Samsung Pixon here, that is if you’d like to.
